Zandvoort Beach for Amsterdam

Horses on the beach

Endless gallops on horseback over the beach. It is possible in Zandvoort, but there are a couple of conditions that we would like to make you aware of.

It is prohibited to ride or have a riding or draft animal on the beach from the first of March to the first of October. This does not apply to riding or draft animals of the council, police, Zandvoort rescue team, the royal Dutch rescue company (KNRM), the Rijnland water board or the Department of Public Works. This of course only if they use the animals during the performance of their official duties. It is also not allowed to rent or offer for use a riding or draft animal to the public without a license.

Riding school

Zandvoort has one riding school:  Manege De Baarshoeve. Manege De Baarshoeve offers great guided trips on the beach or through the dunes. And for the little ones you can rent a pony for a short lead reign ride through the dunes.

Your own horse

Your own horse is welcome in Zandvoort too! While you stay in your own accommodation, your horse is safely stabled with the riding school. They offer livery stabling. This way, you can hit the beach with your own horse for a fantastic ride.

Bridle paths around Zandvoort

You can also go riding in the beautiful dunes around Zandvoort. Both the National Park Zuid-Kennemerland and the Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen have a network of bridle paths that allow you to explore these nature reserves on horseback. You can enter the National Park with your horse at eight entrances: Duin en Kruidberg, Bleek en Berg, Koevlak, Parnassia, Kraantje Lek, Zanderij (Middenduin), Duinpieperpad and Blinkertweg. If you are coming with a trailer or truck, go to the parking areas Bergweg, Parnassia or Koevlak. You cannot park your trailer in the other parking areas.

If you want to drive in the Amsterdam Water Supply Dunes, you can do so under certain conditions. For example, you must be in possession of a valid AWD rider's year card.
